The United States said on Saturday it would rush to Ukraine up to $200 million for additional small arms, anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns, as Ukrainian officials demand more equipment to defend against heavy bombardment. Flow citation reports Reuters.

A senior administration official said on Saturday that President Joe Biden has authorized additional security assistance and the White House has cleared the way for new military equipment to be shipped “immediately” to Ukraine.

Biden’s decision brings the total US security aid to Ukraine to $1.2 billion since January 2021 and $3.2 billion since 2014.

In a memorandum to Foreign Minister Antony Blinken, Biden ordered the allocation of $200 million allocated through the Foreign Aid Act for the defense of Ukraine. Blinken said it has allowed a fourth withdrawal of US defense stocks, in line with Biden’s directive, “to help Ukraine meet the armored, airborne and other threats it faces.”
