Heading a post-budget interaction with stakeholders from the trade and industry of the North East states in Guwahati, the Finance Minister said that the Central government has taken several futuristic steps in the Union Budget, focusing on development by developing and installing digital infrastructure in the country. “The government is making sure that India is prepared to be at the top in various sectors by leveraging technologies and getting India digitally ready in the next 25 years. For this, the Union government took many futuristic steps in the union budget,” he said.

The Finance Minister said that digital infrastructure will help various sectors such as agriculture, medicine and education.

“Digital infrastructure will bring education to people in remote areas of the country in the form of a digital university. The government ensures that India will have at least 75 digital banking units in the near future.”

In the field of natural farming, Sitharaman said the government is confident that using digital technology, better natural farming is possible, while also providing better mapping of farms.

There is a broader spirit and philosophy in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gati Shakti initiative, which aims to drive infrastructure, planning, investments and coordination.

Sitharaman added that the Ministry of Finance will continue to invest in capital expenditures and will also provide more methodical guidance.

He also said that the North-East region has a lot to offer and that coming together will help meet the challenges faced by the region’s various stakeholders.

The minister also urged participants to offer suggestions that would help women-run businesses in the region.
